Project 738 B

Before I can finish the restoration of my 1935 Philips 738B I need the backplate and the 2 smal knobs for tuning and tone.
As you can see this will be a multi-skill project. The cabinet needs woodwork, The chassis is oxidated, capacitors need to be replaced and some of the wires are in need of replacement. Once this is done the set needs to be realigned.
15-08-2002: I have started up this project.
In fase 1. I will start on the woodwork. I have convinced myself that the only option left is to strip the cabinet and apply a new layer of veneer. For that I purchased some veneer and started removing the old veneer.
I must admit, I'm nervous because I have never done this kind of work on a cabinet. Problem with this job is the design of the veneer. There are 2 types of veneer used. One type is a bit darker than the other one. In addition each strip of veneer is rotated 90 degrees.
