A word about copyrights.
People often wonder if and how to use other people's data on their own site.
I myself try to keep it as fair as possible.
First I ask for permission by E-mail.
I clearly state that to prevent stealing bandwidth and dead links, I always put a local copy of the data on my site.
Next I promise to put in a link to the site where I found the data.
If someone doesn't allow me to use their data or Pictures then I don't use it (even when it hurts).
When data I request isn't rightfully owned by the site I found it on, I expect the site to inform me about that, so I can
ask for permission from the rightful copyright owner.
To keep things fair I expect a link to my site if someone wants to copy data or pics. In case the data someone wants to
copy is data that came from another site, I expect the requestor to ask the original publisher for permission, NOT ME!)
Using these simple rules/guidelines it's easy to sleep at night without having nightmares about copyrights lawsuits.
Sleep well.
Mario.
PS.
So far I've always got permission to copy the data or pics I requested.
